Pastor

Meet the Founding Pastor –

Fred Torneden has a true pastor’s heart with a teaching gift to the Body of Christ. His messages are ministered in love with a passion for his listeners to become more intimate in their relationship and fellowship with the Lord. He is a strong teacher of the Word with a desire for touching moves of the Holy Spirit to see believers transformed from “faith to faith” and “glory to glory.”

Fred has ordination licensing credentials with both the Association of Faith Churches and Ministers International (AFCM) and the International Fellowship of Harvesters. With a heart for evangelism to the lost and unreached internationally, he has traveled overseas to minister in countries in Central America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

A native of Kansas, he was saved and spirit-filled while a student at Butler Community College and Fort Hays State University. Fred later earned a Masters of Education Degree in Administration from the University of Texas in Austin.

He returned to Butler College to coach their cross-country team to a national junior college title and was named national coach of the year in 1995. A former world-class runner, he won the Twin Cities Marathon in 1984. He had the second fastest performance by an American for 26.2 miles that year. He was inducted into the Fort Hays State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.

In 1985, Fred married the former Deborah Pihl who is an outstanding runner in her own right, having qualified for the Olympic Trials four times. Deborah was a state record holder at Lindsborg High School, won eight Big 8 conference championships and still holds numerous school records at Kansas State University. She was inducted in 2004 into the Kansas State University Athletic Hall of Fame. Deborah is currently ranked as one of the top five runners in the world for her age group.  Fred and Deborah have two young sons: Kyle and Myles.

“Therefore He says: ‘When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men…’  And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4: 8, 11-12 NKJ).
